Rinky Hijikata vs Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard prediction

Rinky Hijikata defeated Adam Walton in straight sets to make it through to the next round of the Brisbane International. He went an early break down, but recovered well, breaking four times overall to win 6-3 6-2. That makes it three wins in a row for the Australian, including the qualifying stages.

He will now take on Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Frenchman began his season with a brilliant victory, as he beat former world number eight Tommy Paul in three sets. The big serving Frenchman held his nerve in two tiebreaks to win 7-6 (2) 3-6 7-6 (8) after two hours and 11 minutes. Mpetshi Perricard from 5-2 down in the deciding tiebreak to seal victory.

Hijikata has played at an encouraging level so far, but Mpetshi Perricard will take huge confidence from his first-round win and will always be a threat with that serve of his. He leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a straight sets win over Hijikata in a Bordeaux Challenger last year. He is also the higher ranked player and will start as the favourite.
