Rinky Hijikata vs David Goffin prediction
Rinky Hijikata started well on grass, with a semi-final appearance at the Birmingham Classic on the Challenger Tour. However, he then exited in the first-round of both the Libema Open and Mallorca Championships, losing to Dan Evans and Bernard Tomic respectively.
David Goffin has not featured on the tour since he sustained a foot injury in his match with Alexandre Muller in Madrid three months ago. This would have been a blow for the Belgian, who had found some form with quarter-final appearances in Acapluco and Munich while he also pulled off a huge shock by beating Carlos Alcaraz in Miami.
They have played on three occasions in the space of less than a year. Goffin leads the head-to-head 2-1 and won their most recent match in the first-round of Acapulco in February. The Belgian is a two-time quarter-finalist at Wimbledon but he may lack match sharpness having been out for so long. Hijikata hasn’t done enough in his most recent events to suggest he’ll be the overall favourite, with this match being all to play for.
