Renata Zarazúa vs Yulia Putintseva prediction

Renata Zarazua is enjoying the best year on the WTA Tour at the age of 27 as she has made more main draws than any other season. The Mexican will be confident with that in mind and she will be aiming to win just her second match in a main draw in a WTA 1000 event.

Some of her best results and title wins on the ITF Circuit have come on hard courts in the States so she will be hoping to continue that as she meets Yulia Putintseva in the first round.

The 30-year-old Kazakh has far more pedigree and experience on the WTA Tour than her opponent here but her form has been miserable leading into Cincinnati.

She has lost in her opening match in the last four tournaments and she will be desperate to find a win from somewhere.

Last year she made it to the third round in Cincinnati but she has fared even better in some of the other hard-court tournaments in North America as she reached the quarters in Miami last year.

Putintseva should have enough to win here but much will depend on her mindset against Zarazua who will be fired up and desperate to do well. We favour Putintseva to have enough to halt this alarming run of form and progress.
