Renata Zarazua vs Ajla Tomljanovic prediction
Renata Zarazua was close to a real scalp in the second-round of the Cincinnati Open as she took the first set against former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina and kept fighting right until the death in the decider. She would come up just short, losing the third set 7-5. The Mexican will take confidence from that performance but her overall season has not been impressive, having got past the second-round on just one occasion so far in 2025.
Ajla Tomljanovic also went close against a much higher ranked player in Cincinnati as she lost to Clara Tauson in a close three set match. The Australian had ended a three match winless run in the first-round by beating Anna Bondar 7-6 6-4.
These two are evenly-matched and the head-to-head is locked at 2-2, with all four matches being played on clay. Zarazua won their last encounter after Tomljanovic was forced to retire early in the second-round of the Parma Open last year. We expect this to go to a deciding set.
