Reilly Opelka gave a demonstration of his serving prowess with an excellent win over top seed Daniil Medvedev. 

The American pulled off a major shock with a 7-6 7-6 victory as the Russian imploded with double faults at the worst possible time.

The 27-year-old is now guaranteed to rise back into the world’s top 80 and will probably fancy his chances against world number 63 Zizou Bergs.

The Belgian has scrapped his way through the draw this week and only just saw off qualifier Mark Lajal 7-6 7-6 to reach a third semi-final in 2025 and set up a second career meeting with Opelka. 

Bergs won their previous encounter in a decider in Winston-Salem last year, but Opelka is much further along the road to recovery since returning from injury now. 

If the American continues to boom down big serves for fun he will be hard to stop and, buoyed by his win over Medvedev, we are tipping him to reach his second final of the season.
