She made the second-round in Cincinnati, coming from a set down to defeat Caroline Dolehide in round one after a tight match. However, Sramkova faded away against Magda Linette, losing 7-6 6-0. She has not enjoyed the strongest of seasons and has gone past the second-round of tournaments on just three occasions in 2025.
Her opponent Victoria Rodriguez was handed a wildcard for the event. The 30-year-old from Mexico is ranked 447 in the world and will be competing in the main draw of a WTA tournament for the first time this season. She mainly competes in South American tournaments at a lower level but has failed to make it through to a final so far this year.
Sramkova will be a heavy favourite to win this in straight sets and should be expected to do so.
