Rebecca Marino vs Leylah Fernandez prediction

Leylah Fernandez is still very much remembered for her run to the US Open final back in 2021 when she was defeated by Emma Raducanu. But now it’s about following that up and Fernandez has shown positive signs leading into this Grand Slam. The Canadian has four WTA singles titles to her name, with the most recent of those coming only a month ago in Washington D.C.

Rebecca Marino will know Fernandez very well with both being Canadian players. She defeated Fernandez back in 2022, although there has been plenty of water under the bridge since then. Marino has lost four of her last six matches though and arrives in Queens not in great form.

Fernandez suffered some poor results post Washington triumph, losing in the first round of the Canadian Open, with the brutal schedule no doubt having a huge effect. She was also beaten at the first time of asking in Cincinnati but at Flushing Meadows, expect a much improved Fernandez and back her to overcome Marino.
