The Belgian edged a tight first set but completely dominated the second as Davidovich Fokina fell away. Collignon won 7-6 6-1 and can now look forward to a semi-final clash with Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Auger-Aliassime defeated Eliot Spizzirri to reach the last four. It looked to be plain sailing for the Canadian as he went a set up and then established a 4-2 lead in the second. However, Spizzirri would break back and then continued to hold serve, with the second set going to a tiebreak. Auger-Aliassime managed to clinch the match on his second match point to win 6-2 7-6.
Collignon has delighted the home crowd with his performances, and he will be heading into this once with his confidence levels at an all-time high. However, Auger-Aliassime has unlocked a new level in his game ever the start of the US Open and he is still in contention for a place at the Tour Finals next month.
