The match went to a deciding set tiebreak, with Collignon saving a match point and coming through to win it 12-10 after previously squandering five match points of his own. The Belgian has home support on his side and now takes on Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
The Spaniard came through a tough three set match of his own against Marcos Giron. He broke the American’s serve when Giron was serving for the first set, only to still lose it on a tiebreak, though he dominated the second set to square the match up. Davidovich Fokina broke early in the deciding set and crucially saved two break points in subsequent service games as he won 6-7 6-1 6-4.
