He will now face compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta for a place in the last eight. The 34-year-old continued his resurgence as he beat Thiago Agustin Tirante in four sets. Carreno Busta reached a ranking high of 10 almost a decade ago, but he is now just one match away from a third quarter-final at Roland Garros as he won 7-6 (0) 7-5 3-6 6-4.
Jodar should have enough to progress, but he has been challenged at this event so far, and the experienced Carreno Busta is unlikely to go down without a fight.
