Rafael Jodar vs Kei Nishikori prediction

Rafael Jodar began his North American hard court swing with an impressive win over Arthur Fils on his Washington Open debut. The 19-year-old edged clear after a tight first set and largely controlled the rest of the match to win 7-6 (5) 6-3. Jodar has put together a brilliant debut season on the tour, which has included a quarter-final run at Roland Garros and a first ever ATP Tour title at the Grand Prix Hassan II. He will now face 2015 champion Kei Nishikori for a place in the last eight.

Nishikori notched up his first tour-level win since May 2025 as he defeated Juncheng Shang in three sets. The 36-year-old, who is set to retire at the end of the season, came from a set down to win 6-7 (3) 6-3 6-4.

It’s a case of youth against experience in this round-of-16 match, but Jodar will be the heavy favourite to win.
