Rafael Jodar vs Felix Gil prediction
Rafael Jodar is set to make his Wimbledon debut, with this also representing his first competitive event on grass. He was expected to make a first appearance at Queen’s Club, but withdrew from the event due to abdominal discomfort. It has been an incredible debut campaign for the 19-year-old, as he won his first tour-level title at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakesh, along with quarter-final appearances in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros. Jodar is now closing in on the top 20 of the world rankings.
He will face Felix Gil in the first-round, with the Brit receiving a wildcard. He made his main draw debut on the ATP Tour at Eastbourne as a lucky loser last week, but lost to fellow Brit Jan Choinski in three sets. Gil is ranked 220 in the world.
There is an element of the unknown surrounding this match given Jodar’s lack of experience on grass, but Gil lacks the weapons to spring an upset on day one.
