Quentin Halys came from a set down to beat Roland Garros semi-finalist Matteo Arnaldi in the first-round of Wimbledon. The Frenchman won 89% of his points on first serve and recovered from a tricky start to win 3-6 6-1 7-6 (5) 6-3. He will now face Marcos Giron for a place in round three.
Giron also came from a set down to win his first-round match, defeating Corentin Moutet. A crucial third set saw Giron win five games in a row from 3-0 down, only to fail to serve it out at 5-4. However, he broke Moutet once more in the subsequent service game and went on to take the lead in the match. The American won 4-6 6-4 7-5 6-4 and has now advanced to the second-round on six separate occasions at SW19.
These two last played against each other in 2020 at Roland Garros, with Giron winning a thrilling match that lasted over four hours on court. Both players are likely to cancel each other out at times once more, and this could be decided in four of five sets.
