Quentin Halys advanced to the second-round of the Shanghai Masters with a win over Coleman Wong. There were just two break points opportunities throughout the entire match, with Halys converting the only one he created on his way to a 6-4 7-6 (5) victory. The 29-year-old won his first tour-level title this season in Kitzbuhel, beating defending champion Alexander Bublik in the final.

He will Alexander Blockx. The Belgian received a bye in round one. Blockx was an early casualty at the Japan Open, losing in the first-round to Valentin Vacherot. He reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final at the US Open last month. That was the highlight of Blockx’s breakthrough season, and he has moved up to a career high of 27 in the world rankings.

Both of these players have had strong seasons up to this point, but Blockx has slightly more variety to his game and is emerging as a real threat on the tour.
