Qinwen Zheng vs Shi Han prediction

Qinwen Zheng is competing in her first event since a stunning return to form at the US Open. The 2024 Olympic champion had to qualify for the main draw at Flushing Meadows, but then staged magnificent comebacks against Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek to reach the quarter-finals. She was on course for the last four as she took the first set against Elena Rybakina, but the Kazakh went on to win in three. Zheng has surged up the rankings and is now closing in on the top 50. Her best result at this event was a semi-final appearance in 2024.

She faces compatriot Shi Han. The 21-year-old qualified for this event after an excellent comeback win in the final stage over Elvina Kalieva. Han is still ranked outside the world’s top 200..
