Qinwen Zheng vs McCartney Kessler prediction
Qinwen Zheng ended the clay court season with two strong finishes. Firstly, she would reach the semi-finals of the Italian Open, losing a close three set match with Coco Gauff. Zheng carried that momentum with her to Paris, as she made the quarter-finals which is her best finish at Roland Garros so far. Zheng was a break up on world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the first set but could not maintain her level, losing 7-6 6-3.
The Chinese does not have a strong record on grass at all, which may provide some hope for McCartney Kessler. The American comfortably made it through her first-round match against Great Britain’s Francesca Jones, winning 6-2 6-4.
Despite Zheng’s struggles on the surface, with just three career wins on grass compared to eight losses, Kessler does not have the best record either and is unlikely to pull off an upset. Zheng may take some time to adjust but we’re still expecting her to win this one.
