Priscilla Hon enters the draw as a lucky loser, following Sloane Stephens’ withdrawal. The Australian lost in straight sets to Cadence Brace in qualifying. The Australian has not made the best of starts this season, with six losses from her first eight matches. She reached the third-round of the US Open and advanced to the top 100 for the first time in 2025, but her results have taken a significant dip since that point.
She goes up against home favourite Renata Zarazua. Her best result of the season was in Fujairah on the ITF circuit, as she reached the semi-finals before having to retire in her match against Lilli Tagger. However, she has struggled to get wins at tour-level and will be hoping to perform much better at one of her home tournaments.
Zarazua will be determined to get back to winning ways here, especially against an out-of-form Hon.
