Polina Kudermetova vs Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah prediction

Polina Kudermetova competed at the Ningbo Open last time out but couldn’t qualify after a loss to Hanyu Guo in the first stage. The Russian suffered a run of 10 matches without a win during the season and while she has picked up some wins since then, Kudermetova has been unable to make a deep run at any tournaments. She started the year well, making the final in Brisbane, but it’s been mostly tough going for her since that point.

Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah made her WTA Tour debut in Rouen earlier this season and impressed as she reached the quarter-finals. In September, she produced a big shock as she won her first WTA title in Sao Paulo. This propelled her into the top 150 of the world rankings, and she has carried on that momentum by qualifying for this tournament in Guangzhou. 

Rakotomanga Rajaonah heads into this one as the underdog but she’s on an upwards trajectory and can spring a surprise against a struggling Kudermetova.
