Pierre-Hugues Herbert vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry prediction
Pierre-Hugues Herbert has had a tough time of things recently as he heads into the main draw of the Canadian Open. The Frenchman was on a run of five matches without a win, until a victory in the qualifying stage in Toronto. He defeated Li Tun in three sets. He does have a Challenger Tour title this season on this surface, having won an indoors event in Cherbourg in the middle of February.
He will take on Tomas Martin Etcheverry in round one. The Argentine is also struggling at the moment and parted ways with his coach Horacio De La Pena last week. He last performed well in Halle, making the quarter-finals and defeating Andrey Rublev along the way. However, since then, its’s been tough going for Etcheverry as he’s lost his last six matches, despite even dropping down to compete on the Challenger Tour on one occasion.
Etcheverry is comfortably ranked higher, but his game is at a loss right now and he lacks overall direction. Herbert will take some confidence from arresting his own slide in form and may cause something of an upset here.
