Peyton Stearns vs Yafan Wang prediction
Peyton Stearn will be hoping to find some form this week after being eliminated in her opening match in her last three tournaments. The 23-year-old American is struggling for form of late and that does not bode well in a tournament where she has never won a main draw match in two previous editions.
Stearns’ best performances this season have come on clay and she even reached a WTA 1000 semi-final in Madrid on that surface earlier this year. Since then however, her form has been relatively poor and she will be desperate to turn it around.
She takes on the experienced Yafan Wang who only returned from injury in Montreal after six months out. The 31-year-old came through qualifying before losing in three sets to Yuliia Starodubtseva in that event but her performances will give her good confidence coming into this one.
Stearns has to be favoured though against Wang given how long she has been out. Wang will battle away and will be no pushover, but we marginally prefer Stearns. Our pick however is on this match going the distance potentially so consider game betting in this one.
