Peyton Stearns vs Solana Sierra prediction

Peyton Stearns picked up her second WTA title at the ATX Open last week. The American had not even reached a quarter-final since the Italian Open last May, but went a few stages better as she defeated Taylor Townsend in the final. Stearns is now safely inside the top 50 of the world rankings once again and will hope to continue her winning run at Indian Wells. 

Solana Sierra is her first-round opponent. The Argentine’s best result of the season is a run to the semi-finals of the Philippines Open. This saw Sierra win three matches in a row, though she was uncompetitive in her last four match against Camila Osorio, winning just the one service game. Sierra’s form aside from that tournament has been very poor, with first-round exits in Melbourne, Doha and Dubai.

Stearns will hope to take the ball early and be aggressive from the start against Sierra. Considering her fine form right now, she is a heavy favourite to win this one.
