Peyton Stearns vs Amanda Anisimova prediction

Peyton Stearns defeated Petra Marcinko in straight sets to book a place in the third-round of the Australian Open. The American dominated the first set with two early breaks, but Marcinko found her rhythm and opened up a 5-2 lead in the second. The 20-year-old looked set to level the match up, but Stearns went on to win five games in a row to seal a 6-2 7-5 win.

She faces world number four Amanda Anismova next. The two-time Grand Slam finalist got past Katerina Siniakova in straight sets. Anisimova raced clear in the first set and while she was pegged back after going a break up in the second, eventually came through to seal a 6-1 6-4 win after one hour and 43 minutes. This wasn’t the strongest of serving displays from Anisimova, as her first serve percentage dipped below 60% and she had to save 12 out of 13 break points.

Anisimova has not been at her best so far but her overall firepower should be too much for Stearns in round three.
