The second seed romped to a 6-3 6-1 success over her compatriot to set up a maiden meeting with Petra Marcinko after the Croatian edged Caty McNally by a 6-3 4-6 6-4 scoreline.

The world number 51 will reach a career high next week, but we don’t expect it to tally beyond semi-final points as Keys has looked imperious at a tournament where she has flourished in the past and if she fires, it will be a tall order for the underdog.
