Olga Danilovic vs Jessica Pegula Prediction
Olga Danilovic reached the third round of the Australian Open for the first time in her career courtesy of a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Liudmila Samsonova during which she completely outclassed the 25th seed.
The Serb, who is on the cusp of the world’s top 50, has produced some excellent serving statistics in her two matches to date and she will need to maintain that level to give her a fighting chance of reaching the last 16.
She runs into a confident Jessica Pegula though, who made relatively light work of tricky customer Elise Mertens in her own second-round encounter. The American is a consistent performer in Melbourne having reached the quarter-finals in three of her last four visits, and her game is clearly in excellent shape after a recent run to the final of the recent Adelaide International.
Neither player has lost a set yet, but something has to give here in the pair's first meeting since a 2018 ITF contest that Pegula won in straight sets. A repeat outcome could be on the cards here, but Danilovic has shown enough in her first two games to make this competitive.
Olga Danilovic vs Jessica Pegula Tip: Jessica Pegula to win 2-1
