Oleksandra Oliynykova vs Alexandra Eala prediction

Oleksandra Oliynynkova beat American wildcard Reese Brantmeier in the first-round of the US Open. The Ukrainian converted six of eight break points and repeatedly responded after dropping serve herself, eventually completing a 6-4 6-4 victory after one hour and 39 minutes. Oliynykova beat Mayar Sherif in the first-round of the Monterrey Open last week, before losing to eventual winner Diane Parry.

She now faces Alexandra Eala after the Filipino brushed aside Mary Stoiana in straight sets. The 17th seed saved all six break points she faced, won 84% of first serve points in the opening set and finished by claiming the final five games to win 6-1 6-2. She won her first ever tour-level title at the Washington Open right at the start of last month.

Oliynykova does lead the head-to-head 1-0, after beating Eala in Strasbourg a few months ago. However, Eala’s flatter, aggressive ball-striking should be better suited to the quicker New York hard courts than that clay court encounter.
