Oksana Selekhmeteva advanced to the quarter-finals in Austin after a straight sets win over Kamilla Rakhimova. The pair exchanged breaks at the start of the match but Selekhmeteva asserted control by winning five games in a row as she took the first set with ease. Rakhimova opened up a 3-1 lead in the second, but Selekhmeteva bounced back and went on to win 6-2 7-5 after one hour and 36 minutes.
She plays Peyton Stearns next. The American is in her first quarter-final since the Italian Open nine months ago, after thrashing Kaja Juvan. Stearns lost just nine points as she wrapped up the first set after just 24 minutes, maintaining her level throughout to win 6-0 6-2. Juvan was restricted to just one winner during the match, with Stearns hammering down 21 in total.
Stearns does have momentum for the first time in a while and is worth backing for this quarter-final match against Selekhmeteva.
