The Portuguese star triumphed 4-6 6-3 6-3 to set up a showdown with lucky loser Jenson Brooksby. 

The American is featuring on grass for the first time in three years and made the most of his reprieve after losing in qualifying to prevail 7-6 6-4 against Francisco Comesana. 

This will their first encounter and it’s a tough one to call. Eighth seed Borges has the higher ranking and has had some positive results on the turf this year.

This was Brooksby’s first win on the surface in 2025, so if you look at it that way the Portuguese is the pick if you are considering plumping for a winner.
