Nuno Borges will be looking to end a three-match losing run when he begins his campaign at the Shanghai Masters. Borges has advanced to the round-of-16 at his last two Masters 1000 events, and he is currently ranked just outside the world’s top 50.

He plays Facundo Diaz Acosta in the first-round. The Argentine won his sixth Challenger title last month in Seville. However, he suffered an early exit at his last tournament in Szczecin to Daniel Elahi Galan, despite winning the first set. The 25-year-old has only played four matches on hard courts this season, with the majority occurring on clay.

Borges has far greater tour-level experience and is more suited to these conditions in comparison to his opponent. He will be a firm favourite to win.
