In the second successive match, the 24-time Grand Slam champion was taken to a tiebreak in the first set, which he dominated. He then broke in the middle of the second set to win 7-6 (1) 6-4. He now goes up against Yannick Hanfmann. The German made it through to his first semi-final on the ATP Tour this season as he beat Marcos Giron.
