Novak Djokovic reached his 225th quarter-final after getting past Alejandro Tabilo in Athens. The 24-time Grand Slam champion was tested in the first set but came through in a tiebreak, before racing clear to win 7-6 (3) 6-1. He won a commanding 92% of his first serve points and hammered 13 aces on his way to victory.
He now goes up against Nuno Borges. The Portuguese recovered from going a set down to beat Eliot Spizzirri. He was not broken on serve in set two or three as he won 5-7 6-3 6-4 after two hours and five minutes.
Despite a month away from competitive action, Djokovic was very solid in his service games and looked assured throughout in his first match back. Borges is unlikely to pose too many questions for the former world number one, who could still feature at the World Tour Finals in Turin next week.
