Novak Djokovic vs Learner Tien prediction
Novak Djokovic will aim for a 25th Grand Slam title when he begins his US Open campaign. If he were to win, he would join Roger Federer, Pete Sampras and Jimmy Connors on five US Open titles – an Open era record. He has not featured on the tour since his semi-final defeat to world number one Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon, ending a run of six years where he had got through to the final at SW19.
Learner Tien will be his round one opponent. Tien performed well in Toronto as he made the round-of-16. His campaign in Cincinnati was more short-lived, as he lost in the second-round to Andrey Rublev. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old has shown flashes of real quality this season, with a quarter-final appearance in Acapulco and a run to the fourth-round of the Australian Open in January.
Tien should not be underestimated, as he has a 4-1 record in his favour against top 10 players this season. The 24-time major champion could be vulnerable at the start, having not played a tour-level match in over a month, but his consistency and experience should help him get over the line in round one.
Novak Djokovic vs Learner Tien tip: Novak Djokovic to win 3-0 or 3-1
