Novak Djokovic enjoyed his best week of the season at the China Open, extending his remarkable unbeaten record at the tournament by claiming a seventh title. That triumph also marked the 102nd singles title of his career. He now quickly turns his attention to the Shanghai Masters, with the 39-year-old also declaring his intention to compete at the ATP Tour Finals in Turin if he is able to qualify. Djokovic is currently eighth in the standings.

He has been handed a tough draw as he faces in-form Hubert Hurkacz in the second-round. The 2023 champion earned a victory in round one after overcoming James Duckworth 6-4 7-6 (4). The Pole did not concede a break point throughout the match. He has enjoyed a strong Asian swing, with a final in Chengdu backed up by a run to the last four at the China Open. He has won eight of his last 10 matches overall.

Djokovic dominates the head-to-head as he leads 8-0. Their last match was at the Geneva Open final last year, with the 24-time Grand Slam champion recovering from a set down to win. Djokovic appears to have rediscovered his best form, but the quick turnaround could prove challenging for the Serb, while Hurkacz should provide a stern test given his recent results.
