Nishesh Basavareddy vs Filip Cristian Jianu prediction

Nishesh Basavareddy has featured in just two events since his brave four-set loss to Novak Djokovic in the first round of the Australian Open. Unfortunately for the American, these were early exits at both the Mexican Open and Indian Wells, to Denis Shapovalov and Yunchaokette Bu respectively.

He is only 19 years old and just broken into the top 100, but Basavareddy is an unknown quantity on clay, with his upcoming match at the event set to be his first on the surface since joining the ATP Tour.

Jianu, despite his lowly ranking, has played far more clay court tennis already this season, participating at Challenger events in both Rwanda and Bahrain, and making a quarter-final appearance in the former competition.

This is a very difficult matchup to call, with neither having played each other, and both having very limited experience on the tour as a whole. Basavareddy clearly has potential and is ranked 141 places above his Romanian opponent despite being four years his junior, and we think he’ll have enough to win on the day.
