Nicolai Budkov Kjaer vs Jaume Munar prediction
Nicolai Budkov Kjaer broke new ground last month as he advanced to the main draw of a major for the first time after winning all three of his qualifying matches. He would lose to Reilly Opelka in the first-round of the Australian Open. The 19-year-old most recently competed in Davis Cup qualifying for Norway against Great Britain, but lost his two singles matches against Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley.
He goes up against Jaume Munar in round one. The Spaniard lost in the second-round of the Australian Open to three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud. This followed a dramatic win over Dalibor Svrcina in round one, which saw Munar save a match point and come from two sets to one down. Munar’s best result of the season so far is a quarter-final appearance at the Adelaide International last month.
Budkov Kjaer is a promising talent and could apply pressure on Munar indoors. The Spaniard is likely to be tested but he should still be expected to advance to the next round of the tournament.
