NEW YORK GIANTS
- New York Giants ended their winless streak to begin the season as they overcame NFC East rivals Washington Football Team with a narrow success on Sunday and they will hope that can be the turning point for them.
- Despite that win, the Giants were perhaps fortunate that their opponents opted to go for a 2pt conversion to attempt to win the game in the closing stages of the fourth quarter rather than levelling with a PAT and forcing overtime.
- The Giants have had injury issues with their starting offensive weapons throughout the season but WR Sterling Shepard has been designated to return from IR and he could make his comeback if he proves his fitness before this clash.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
- Philadelphia Eagles’ poor start to the season continued as they suffered their fourth loss in six matches and they now sit at 1-4-1 after their defeat to Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, although they did show signs of what they can do as they almost mounted a comeback.
- The Eagles trailed 24-6 at one point but they got the scores to within two by the end of the game and they could have even forced overtime had they managed to convert on a 2pt conversion with just two minutes remaining.
- In a further blow for the Eagles, they have lost TE Zach Ertz and RB Miles Sanders for this game at the very least, although it is expected to be longer for the former. However, to counter those losses, WR pairing DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery could be back on the field following injuries.
THE PREDICTION
Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants have made a poor start to the season and the NFC East rivals will both be desperate to come out on top here as they attempt to turn the campaigns around. They have won just two games between them through Week 6 but they have shown signs of improvement in their last few games. This is the third straight divisional matchup for the Giants and it shapes to be an important one but the Eagles have beaten them seven times in a row and despite having some big outs because of injury, Philly can do enough to extend that run to eight matches.
