THE TEAM NEWS
DENVER BRONCOS
- Denver Broncos went into last week’s clash with Tampa Bay Buccaneers with numerous injury issues but that did not excuse some of their poor plays as they were comfortably defeated 28-10.
- After stand-in QB Jeff Driskel failed to fire, the Broncos have opted to make a change in that position this week with Brett Rypien handed the start, although that does not mean that Driskel will not feature.
- Head coach Vic Fangio is likely to come in if Rypien has limited success but the Broncos have more issues to deal with this week after RT Elijah Wilkinson was placed on IR with a knee problem to add to an already lengthy list of unavailable players.
NEW YORK JETS
- New York Jets produced another miserable performance as they were on the end of a big loss against Indianapolis Colts last week with turnovers a big problem in the one-sided contest.
- QB Sam Darnold threw two pick-sixes as well as allowing a safety after he was sacked in the end zone but he cannot shoulder all of the blame with a lack of targets to aim at not helping his cause.
- On a short turnaround for Thursday Night Football, the Jets will hope that WR Breshad Perriman is able to return from an ankle issue but he was unable to log a practice on either Monday or Tuesday, although fellow receiver Jamison Crowder is trending in the right direction.
THE PREDICTION
New York Jets and Denver Broncos both come into this TNF clash 0-3 with the pair struggling at the start of this new season and the outcome of this game could go a long way to determining which team will look to ‘Tank for Trevor’. Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence is one of the brightest prospects to come out of college for a long time and his availability in the 2021 has put several teams on alert with them willing to sacrifice this season in order to secure the top pick in next year’s draft. There is little to like about either team heading into this contest and with them combining for just 82 points through Week 3, quality on offense is likely to be at a premium so expect a matchup with no more than 42 points.
