Nathan Aspinall has been underwhelming in the majors so far this year, but the Winter Gardens hold fond memories for him given that he lifted the Phil Taylor Trophy in 2023.

The Asp has not been beyond the second round since then, but is more than capable of another deep run should he find his A-game in Blackpool.

Indeed, it was Joe Cullen that Aspinall defeated in the semi-finals of that triumphant World Matchplay campaign three years ago, although the pair have surprisingly only locked horns once since then.

Cullen has had a few good runs in Players Championship events this year, but it's been awhile since we saw him perform well on stage and he is clearly lacking the confidence he once had.

This looks like Aspinall's to lose.
