Paula Badosa has recovered from her back troubles just in time to face off with Naomi Osaka in one of the matches of the first round.
The tenth seed will meet the four-time Grand Slam champion for what is surprisingly their first ever meeting.
Badosa has barely had time to acclimatise to the surface with just two matches in Strasbourg since Miami, while Osaka won three matches in Rome on the back of a title triumph in a W125 in Saint Malo.
Historically, Badosa is a high-class performer on the dirt with Osaka often struggling with her movement.
The fact Badosa has only just returned from time on the sidelines and the Japanese star’s improved fortunes on the surface of late makes this a closer call than it probably would have been a couple of months ago.
