Naomi Osaka got her first win on grass this season as she beat Olga Danilovic after a battling performance. There was no break of serve from either player, but Osaka won the most pressurised points as she sealed a 7-6 7-6 win. The four time Grand Slam champion thundered down 16 aces and will be a threat at this tournament if she maintains her strong serving.
She now takes on fifth seed Emma Navarro. Navarro booked her place in the round-of-16 after defeating Marta Kostyuk 6-2 7-5. The American returned well and broke the Kostyuk serve on six separate occasions.
Their only previous match against each other took place on grass. Navarro defeated Osaka 6-4 6-1 in the second-round of Wimbledon last year. The Japanese player has a strong serve but will be going up against someone who returns well in Navarro. She may just edge this one and reach the quarter-finals.
