ZAC PAUGA VS MOHAMMED USMAN LOWDOWN
It is now or never for Zac Pauga (5-0) making his UFC debut at 34 years old with a chance to be crowned The Ultimate Fighter. After a successful amateur career, he made his debut in 2020 and racked up five wins between LFA and Cage Warriors before the tournament. He earnt a unanimous decision over Nyle Bartling in the first round and TKO’d the durable Jordan Heiderman in the semis to set up this finale.
Julliana Pena’s number one pick ahead of Pauga, Mohammed Usman (7-2) was riding a decent four-fight win streak leading up to the tournament but did suffer a blip getting submitted by Brandon Sayles (2021) for the PFL. He also kicked off the tournament with a unanimous decision which was over Mitchell Sipe. He then earnt a closer split decision over Eduardo Perez in the next round to secure his spot on the UFC on ESPN 40 card.

Both men fight out of solid camps – Pauga is at Elevate Fight team and Usman is at Fortis MMA so expect them to have improved since the tournament.
Usman is a behemoth of a man with serious knockout power although he tends to fire single shots which Pauga will be able to prepare for. Usman is also athletic and has the speed advantage so if he can bring a new look to the octagon and string some combinations together, he will look very impressive.
Pauga gets better as the fight goes on and if gets out of the first round, you have to back him to begin to overwhelm Usman. Overall, this is tough to call so betting on the underdog is the smart play. They both throw low volume, so do not expect a barnburner, but Usman’s power and wrestling could be the game changer.
