Vinicius Oliveira (19-3) is grateful to still be on the card after Yanis Ghemmouri got injured and withdrew this week. He made quite the scene last year despite heading into it with a loss. He got knocked out by Ali Taleb (2022) under the UAE Warriors banner but responded by knocking out Hikaru Yoshino in the first round. That led to an invitation from the Contender Series which he made the most out of by uncorking a nuclear left hand on Victor Madrigal’s face.
Bernado Sopai (11-2) bravely steps up for his UFC debut and why not after stringing together three knockouts in a row. He head kicked Karlen Minasian (2022) and clapped Julien Lopez (2023) under the Fight Club Rush banner. He then appeared on the Allstars Fight Night card and pounded out Geovane Vargas (2023) in the first round.
VINICIUS OLIVEIRA VS BERNARDO SOPAI PREDICTION
Sopai has little to lose stepping up just a few days’ notice as the heavy underdog. That makes him a dangerous opponent. He is rapid and powerful striker with good movement and he will oblige in the stand-up battle.
That will wet the appetite of Oliveira who loves nothing more than swinging wildly until he connects. He is extremely explosive and what he lacks in technique, he makes up for in power.
Sopai is more technical and will be in shape as he was scheduled to fight next week and is certainly worth a punt for the upset. However, Oliveira’s size, reach and power should make the difference.
