TRACY CORTEZ VS AMANDA RIBAS LOWDOWN

Tracy Cortez (10-1) has only fought three times since her debut in 2019. Then, she earnt a unanimous decision over Vanessa Melo and has gone on to earn three more to extend her win streak to 10. She cruised past Stephanie Egger (2021) then squeezed by in a tighter split decision over Justine Kish (2021) and she is coming off another unanimous decision over Melissa Gatto back in May.

Amanda Ribas (11-3) is not getting any breaks in the UFC with some super tough matchups. She moved into top prospect status after winning her first four UFC fights which included a unanimous decision over Mackenzie Dern (2019) and a submission over Paige VanZant (2020). However, she then ran into Marina Rodriguez (2021) and her elbow, responded with a decision over another submission wizard in Virna Jandiroba (2021) but is coming off a split decision loss to Katlyn Chookagian back in May.

TRACY CORTEZ VS AMANDA RIBAS PREDICTION

Ribas is more well-rounded. She is a better striker with better jiu-jitsu however, Cortez has the equalizer with very strong wrestling. Ribas has the Muay Thai, boxing and speed to make Cortez look amateur on the feet and will threaten a submission off her back.

Expect Cortez to relentlessly hunt the takedown regardless. Ribas has great defence and balance as a black belt in judo, but we expect Cortez to get her down. The Brazilian needs to leverage her ground skills to get back to her feet as Cortez has the power to pin her down and drain the gas tank.

We can see a back-and-forth battle here with Ribas winning the exchanges on the feet and creating scrambles in the grappling exchanges, but Cortez can snatch a couple rounds assuming control time with her wrestling. This has got split decision written all over it.
