TIM ELLIOTT VS MUHAMMAD MOKAEV LOWDOWN
Tim Elliott (19-12-1) has been busy at the gate of the flyweight division. His last five fights have ended via unanimous decision where he denied Ryan Benoit (2020) and Jordan Espinosa (2021) entry before letting Matheus Nicolau (2021) slide through. Sine then, he has slammed the gate shut on Tagir Ulanbekov (2022) and Victor Altamirano (2023).
Now Muhammad Mokaev (10-0(1)) has come knocking and nothing has stood in his way so far with 10 dubs to his name and a packed amateur record without tasting defeat. He has four UFC fights under the belt kicking off his campaign with a submission over Cody Durden (2022) and unanimous decision over Charles Johnson (2022). Since then, he has added his fourth and fifth professional submissions which were over Malcolm Gordon (2022) and Jafel Filho (2023)
TIM ELLIOTT VS MUHAMMAD MOKAEV PREDICTION
It is surprising to see Mokaev back so soon after his knee got tied up like a balloon animal by Fialho. Like Elliott, he is a warrior and usually battles through the pain.
There is a lot of tape to study on Elliott, so Mokaev will know what to expect, but he is a wily old veteran and very unorthodox. The Brit will have to expect a lot of movement and strikes from random angles and he will be looking to counter with his reach advantage.
Mokaev will ultimately want to put Elliott on his back, but he will have to be patient and get a read on the feet first. This is what we expect to happen and Mokaev will by eyeing up those five submission losses on Elliott’s record.
On paper, this is a very tough match-up for Mokaev who will have to work hard to get the fight to the floor. Considering the odds, Elliott makes all the sense, but we are backing Mokaev to land the takedowns he needs to convince the judges.
Prediction: Mokaev via Decision
Value bet: Elliott via Decision
