STEPHANIE EGGER VS IRINA ALEKSEEVA LOWDOWN
Big things were expected from Stephanie Egger (8-3) when she arrived to the UFC. However, she was handed a tough stylistic match-up on debut. She was welcomed by the wrestler Tracy Cortez (2020) and lost a unanimous decision. She bounced back in style with a TKO over Shana Dobson (2021) and a submission over Jessica Rose-Clark (2022). However, she then met her grappling match getting submitted Mayra Bueno Silva (2022). She made a quick turnaround a month later filling in to fight Ailin Perez up at featherweight and picked up the fourth submission of her career.
Now, she welcomes Irina Alekseeva (4-1) to the UFC. She has only fought once since 2019 which was a unanimous decision loss to Liliya Kazak for the Professional Fighting Championship in her native Russia. She returned almost a year later and got back in the win column with a unanimous decision over Stephanie Page at Bellator 269, and we have not seen her since.
STEPHANIE EGGER VS IRINA ALEKSEEVA PREDICTION
Alekseeva is completely unproven at this level and her inactivity is a real worry. She is taking on a high-level grappler with a judo background and has amassed some priceless experience while Alekseeva has been on the side-lines.
Alekseeva is the more dangerous striker and we expect her to throw wild looping strikes but they will just open herself up for the takedown.
Egger will be very confident and if she decides to test her ego and stand, we can see an upset, but there is a clear path to victory if she leverages her judo and jiu-jitsu.
