ROBELIS DESPAIGNE VS JOSH PARISIAN LOWDOWN
Robelis Despaigne (4-0) graces the octagon for the first time on the stacked pay-per-view card. He made his entrance into MMA from taekwondo in 2022 and has carried over his Olympic-level skill set effortlessly. The 2012 bronze medallist has won all four of his professional fights via knockout in the first round. His last two did not even last four seconds dusting Stevie Payne and Miles Banks for Fury FC last year.
Josh Parisian (15-7) welcomes him while sliding on a two-fight skid. His last win was in 2022 earning a classic TKO over Alan Baudot. However, he is now coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jamal Pogues (2023) and a submission to Martin Buday (2023) and UFC on ESPN 51 knocking his UFC tally to 2-4.
ROBELIS DESPAIGNE VS JOSH PARISIAN PREDICTION
Despaigne only has five minutes of fight time in his four fights. However, it is hard not get excited when seeing his Olympic-level taekwondo combined with his knockout power and record wingspan.
He possesses a freaky 87-inch reach breaking the record held by Stefan Struve and Jones at 84.5 inches. He will use every inch of it to violently place his hands or feet on Parisian’s chin.
Parisian is very tough and knows he cannot hang with the Olympian on the feet. So, he will try and get the fight to the ground at all costs. Despaigne’s takedown defence is completely untested, and Parisian is a big lump himself with the power to keep him pinned down.
However, we can see the Cuban igniting the dynamite before he even gets close. The speed and reach make this a terrible match-up. If Parisian can get out the first round it will be interesting, but we are expecting another flash knockout.
Prediction: Despaigne via KO/TKO
Value bet: Parisian to win
