ROB FONT VS ADRIAN YANEZ LOWDOWN
After stringing together four impressive wins, Rob Font (19-6) is now looking at a three-fight skid. He cruised past Sergio Pettis (2018), Ricky Simon (2019), Marlon Moraes (2020) and Cody Garbrandt (2021) to propel himself into the title picture. However, he then met his match and got outclassed himself by Jose Aldo (2021) and Marlon Vera (2022) in unanimous decisions.
The UFC clearly enjoy seeing Font against supreme strikers as Adrian Yanez (16-3) is next up. He is on an exquisite nine-fight win streak with his striking earning him a performance bonus in all five of his UFC bouts. The only man who did not receive a knockout was Davey Grant (2021) who took Yanez to a split decision. However, he got back to old ways in his last fight burying Tony Kelley in the first round.
ROB FONT VS ADRIAN YANEZ PREDICTION
This is a step-up in competition for Yanez and a colossal opportunity to prove he can fight for a title one day. His boxing is simply next level, but Font is a tough and seasoned boxer himself and has been slugging it out with some of the best 135 pounders.
He has one of the best jabs in the division which we can see piercing the guard. Yanez’s UFC career has not been plain sailing absorbing damage on the feet and Font will have the confidence in breaking him down.
That said, Font is on the decline at 35 years old and off the back of 10 bruising rounds against Aldo and Vera. On paper, this is Yanez’s toughest test, but he continues to evolve and we feel his speed, movement and power will help him chip away causing more damage and finishing stronger.
