RAONI BARCELOS VS MILES JOHNS LOWDOWN

Nobody thought Raoni Barcelos (17-4) would go 1-3 after winning his first five UFC fights in dominant fashion. Timur Valiev (2021) snapped the nine-fight win streak with a majority decision and Victor Henry (2022) caused an upset with a unanimous decision. He got a win back outpointing Trevin Jones (2022) but then got paired with the monster Umar Nurmagomedov back in January who knocked him out in the first round.

Miles Johns (13-2) was on a similar trajectory until Mario Bautista (2020) flying knee’d him out of Texas at UFC 247. He responded with two superb knockouts of his own over Kevin Natividad (2020) and Anderson dos Santos (2021) but then got stopped in his tracks and John Castaneda’s arm-triangle. He responded with a unanimous decision over Vince Morales (2022) and now finally appears for the first time this year.

RAONI BARCELOS VS MILES JOHNS PREDICTION

If Barcelos is on, he should blow Johns out the water. He is a supreme athlete with explosive striking and his wrestling and jiu-jitsu is off the charts. However, he is clearly beatable and is there to be hit which is a worry especially as Johns has clear knockout power.

Johns is also a good wrestler, but on paper, Barcelos should be able to throw him around and if he gets on top, he has the jiu-jitsu to cinch up a submission. So, if Barcelos fights smart, he can pick his shots and nullify the offence by putting Johns on his back.

Barcelos should win this, but we can see the underdog landing a knockout blow.

Prediction: Barcelos via Decision

Prediction: Johns via KO/TKO
