PAT SABATINI VS LUCAS ALMEIDA LOWDOWN
Pat Sabatini (17-4) finally returns after his loss to Damon Jackson back in September last year. Many were backing him to extend his streak to seven, but the experienced grappler pulled off the first round TKO set the prospect back.
Lucas Almeida (14-1) is hoping to slide into prospect status himself with a second UFC win. His sole loss came on the Contender Series losing a unanimous decision to Daniel Zellhuber (2021). After the loss he went back to the Jungle Fight promotion to win back his lightweight title submitting Italo Trindade (2021) and then went on to knock Mike Trizano out on his debut a year ago.
PAT SABATINI VS LUCAS ALMEIDA PREDICTION
The game plan is clear for both men here. Sabatini will look to drag the fight to the mat and hunt a submission whereas Almeida will try and keep the fight on the feet and and find that chin.
Almeida is a lightening striker with good leg kicks and he will lick his lips at the sight of Sabatini’s last two knockout losses. If Sabatini does not respect the striking, he will get humbled again.
However, we fully expect Sabatini to take no chances and shoot in as soon as possible. He has the wrestling to nullify the weaponry of Almeida and depending on much energy he can sap, he may even pull off a late submission.
