MATT BROWN VS BRYAN BARBERENA LOWDOWN

Matt Brown (23-18) has recovered from Covid which forced this bout off the UFC Vegas 44 card back in December. He is still slugging it out 14 years deep into his UFC career and coming off a vintage knockout over Dhiego Lima – the 15th of his career. He is 16-12 now in the UFC and at this stage of his career, losses are inevitable, but he is still picking up knockouts which is remarkable. He buried Diego Sanchez (2017) with one of the most brutal elbows you will ever see and used the same weapons to put Ben Saunders away (2019). He then lost to Miguel Baeza (2020) and Carlos Condit (2021) before the win and thankfully he has been handed another exciting match-up after the Lima win.

Bryan Barberena (16-8) is his dancing partner who has been a mixed bag in the UFC. He is 7-6 now and won two of his last three. His chin has kept him in every fight despite taking a pounding over the years, but it finally gave way in 2019 getting TKO’d by Vicente Luque and Randy Brown. He bounced back with a unanimous decision over Anthony Ivy (2020) before losing a majority decision to Jason Witt (2021), but he is coming off another unanimous decision win over Darian Weeks (2021)

MATT BROWN VS BRYAN BARBERENA PREDICTION

It is good to see these two not paired up with a young lion feeding on a name. This is also a great stylistic match-up as they will both come to stand and bang. Brown still has an abundance of aggression and knockout power at 41 years-old and Barberena will go about business as usual attempting to walk Brown down and drown him with heavy hands.

However, this is what Brown will want and prepare to catch him with something violent as he steps into range. Barberena still has a decent chin, but it is there to get hit and we are backing Brown to earn the decision and may even pull off another knockout.
