MANUEL TORRES VS NIKOLAS MOTTA LOWDOWN
All but one of Manuel Torres’ (13-2) wins have come in the first round. He submitted Daniel Vega (2020 – RRR Promotions) and Carlos Enrique Canada (2021 – UWC Mexico) to earn his shot on the Contender Series. He took it with both hands knocking out Kolton Englund (2021). He then made his debut in May last year and knocked out the veteran Frank Camacho.
Nikolas Motta’s (13-4) UFC debut did not quite go as well after his successful appearance on the Contender Series. He earnt a unanimous decision over Joseph Lowry (2020) to set up a debut against the legend Jim Miller (2022). Unfortunately for him, he got knocked out in the second round but bounced back in September last year with a TKO of his own over Cameron VanCamp.
MANUEL TORRES VS NIKOLAS MOTTA PREDICTION
We know Torres hunts to kill in the first round and Motta is an explosive striker with knockout power, so this could be fireworks. Torres can cause damage with a variety of strikes and is lethal in the clinch with knees down the middle.
Torres’ long limbs make him dangerous at all ranges, but Motta has the power advantage. Torres will have the upper hand if this hits the deck as he has slick jiu-jitsu, but Motta has brilliant takedown defence, so we expect the majority of this to remain on the feet.
Motta is the underdog, and we can see him causing the upset, but the fact that he has been finished in all four of his losses is a worry against the someone with the killer instinct of Torres.
